FDB 3/27/19-2/02/99

He was

no furnace

imparting heat and life to masses

nor yet an explosion

destroying the near

while lighting the distant…

simply a steady

burning coal

friendly comfort and light

to fourscore years of family

quiet glowing

warm red ember

waned, flickered, died

on a rainy, windy February morning…

I miss you, Dad.

I’m cold.

  1. a touching tribute to your Dad.    I love the image of 'a steady burning coal'.     I don't know why, but the past with my family reminds me of the orange glow emitting from the backs of old radios.
