A Stormy Peace

We saw Mom on Saturday for a few minutes. Spent the rest of the day helping my sisters decompress a little. And then stopped by to see her again Sunday morning. Saturday, she was awake and in distress. Sunday, not so much.

We drove home, through the wind and rain of a nasty Pacific Northwest winter storm, no wiser about what was going to happen with Mom, or when.  It could be hours...days...a week.

When we got home, we called for news. Mom's condition was rapidly deteriorating. Sister D would spend the night at her bedside.

I would sleep fitfully, waking to hour after hour of howling wind and pelting rain. Remembering that when my Dad died, the weather was almost exactly the same.

Mom died this morning around 7:30 am.

  1. And now the winds have calmed.  The storm is over.  If I were a poet I know I would be able to corelate your emotions and the fit Mother Nature through this weekend here in the Pacific Northwest and the passing of your Mother.  I suppose now as we are experiencing the floodwaters you will experience the flood of emotions.  Again I send Peace your way.

  7. Lisa, I am so sorry.  I am sure this is rapdidly becoming a week of turmoil with too much to do and too much family to contend with and multiple losses past and present overshadowing it all.  Love and peace to you, my friend.

  8. Your mom's body may not have been strong enough to continue, but her spirit will always be with you. The light be with you my friend and may your mom and dad always watch over you. Watch for a shimmer just at the edge of your sight. They will be there.

    Goddess protect you,

    Jackie
